Often it is hard for us to share in words what we are feeling. Art gives us the ability to express things from our past that may be particularly traumatic or hard to re-live. Not all of us are talented artists, so I recommend coloring. Through the act and focus of coloring, we can create a meditative state, which helps us to quell feelings of anxiety and stress. I recommend throwing on a pair of headphones, turning on some comforting music and coloring a scene you find particularly soothing. Coloring in circular patterns has been found to be the most therapeutic because it is believe that it helps the mind retap into our childhood. Feelings of our inner-child and innocence resurface and our problems slowly melt away. This focus brought about from a few minutes of coloring is incredibly meditative. I find that this meditative state - is my favorite natural remedy for anxiety. I almost forget that I am even alive. The pure focus of coloring between the lines, back and forth, back and forth.
